His real name : Ugo Cipriani. Born in Florence, he is the son of the sculptor Adolfo Cipriani. After brilliant studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, where he worked on marble, earth and bronze, he realized the monumental bust of the nationalist Guggleilmo Oberdan, in the square with the same name, in Florence. An Italian artist emblematic of the Art Deco movement, he emigrated in 1935 to escape the fascist regime of Mussolini. Now a political refugee, he remained in Paris until his death. His work is prolific, illustrated notably by his famous “Diane chasseresse” and magnificent “Woman of the thirties”, often accompanied by hinds or greyhounds.
